It Haunts
A downloadable game
IT HAUNTS is an exercise in the concept of interactive digital narrative and follows a nonlinear and interactive storytelling model. The Unity project was developed in under 14 weeks by Kennedy Edwards (Project Manager) and Indy Potter (Lead Developer), two graduate students from Ball State University with no prior knowledge of Unity and no game developing experience. The project also credits Zach Ahmed for writing contributions.
In IT HAUNTS, the interactor investigates a foggy mystery from Muncie’s past. The choices they make determine how much information they uncover and which ending they unlock. The project team conducted multiple rounds of user testing and implemented feedback to improve clarity and narrative flow, fix and debug gaps in development, and increase the feeling of user agency.
Given more time, we would like to expand the story world according to our original plan to include multiple mysteries taking place in different time periods and implement more user agency and possible outcomes.
